Community Problem Solving Team

The Everest Metro Community Problem Solving Team, in partnership with the community will strive to protect and improve the quality of life in the City of Schofield, Village and Town of Weston; providing leadership through open communication, honest, fair and dignified service, and interactive problem solving.

Objectives:
▪ Identify community problems/issues
▪ Develop solutions to resolve or eliminate problems and to prevent them from reoccurring
▪ Identify alternative resources/agencies
▪ Build partnerships with civic officials, area business leaders, residents, Police Commission members, and Neighborhood Watch block captains

What is a problem?
▪ Two or more incidents
▪ Similar in nature
▪ Capable of causing harm
▪ Public expectation for the police to handle the problem

Problem Solving is:
▪ Proactive
▪ Uses multiple resources for information
▪ Focuses on the problem
▪ Involves others in solution
▪ Effective

Possible options or levels of success:
▪ Eliminate the problem
▪ Reduce the scope or the size of the problem
▪ Reduce the harm the problem caused
▪ Manage the problem more effectively
▪ Shift the problem to correct resources
